I have a 1996 ford fiesta lx 1.3. the car cuts out often when slowing down at lights ect and occasionally the fuel gauge drops all the way down, the fog lights and dash lights come on and the car is jumpy and shuddery to drive. when this happens with the headlights on the idle is jumpy and will eventually cut out, however when i turn the headlights off the idle quality improves. does anyone know what the problem could be? that sounds posible. at first i thought it might be the fuel pump or the float in the tank but the problem is now obviously electrical as the lights that come on are now pulsating to the bass from the sub in the back.

Sounds like your alternator is shorting out giving your ecm. uneven readings.when the alt. charge rate gos up & down the ie lights on & off the ecm. is trying to adjust to maintain even voltage coasing your idle to be un even when it hapens to fast the ec. will stop the motor .have this check out it should not coast you any money for the check out i recamend you try not to drive it as little as posable you mite short out other elct. stuff nice luck brad
