1993 ford f350 460cc crew cab "alternator" charging system?
Put new alternator in truck and it was holding charge but the battery light stayed on the dash and it stopped charging again is there any fuses im not aware of or any wire i should check that might cause it not to charge.
Answer
But, did you have
the battery tested ? ? ?
alternator should put out as much as 13.8 to 14.2 volts.
with engine off battery voltage may drop to 12.5 to 13.5 volts, measure it. if the battery voltage is less than 11.5 the battery has a bad cell and must be replaced. . .
the alternator charges up the battery, the battery holds the charge! be sure battery conections are clean and tight.
if battery has removable cell caps, check liquid level in each cell, careful, that is sulfuric acid and water in cells, add plain water to cells if they are
low. if one is very
low it may be defective.
