Fuel pump not priming 1993 ford mustang gt?
Ok, before you get to writing, i know how many possibilities there could be for this problem so plz read all symptoms before you answer.1993 mustang gt (v-8 efi)car was running fine, i turned it off, came back 30 min later and the fuel pump wouldnt prime. sometimes it would start but slowly die again (but i think this was due to leftover gas in the system)about 4 hours later, we tried to go start it again and it worked fine, no problems. got it home and parked it in the driveway. in the morning, started fine again, but an hour after it was parked, it decided to work for about 4 sec, and died again. tried to start it a few more times, and it wont even get a little gas.fuel pump does not prime for the 2 seconds it should. theres no sound :-)anyone think this is a bad relay or fuel pump? i need to know which so i dont spend money on getting the fuel pump replaced and it not even working. thanks much.(p.s. my baby is dead, im sad. =( )
Answer
You can swap the relay with one for something out, usually they have the same part number on them. just pull it out and swap it with the abs, coolant fan, or whatever. you need to get a fuel pressure gauge, you can get a cheap one from auto zone for like 30 bucks and check the fuel pressure key on engine off, and key on engine on and compare it to the specs, sounds like the pump to me.
