O.k. so maybe my phrasing of words was not politically correct. what i meant was my 93 ford escort hesitates when the air conditioning is turned on. my husband says it is because the condensor is draining power from my tiny 1.9 litter motor, in a large diesel truck you would not even notice. has anyone else noticed this occuring in their escort older or newer?thank you, my car is old to get off on it self. it is not occuring when my foot is on the gas it accelerates no problem when air on and gas pedel depressed. it does seem like a drop in power for a split second--happens every 30-45 seconds.

It is normal. it is not your condensor, but your compressor. your condensor is the radiator looking piece that is in front of your engine radiator. all you are feeling is when the clutch enganges on the compressor. your husband is right that with an engine with more torque you will not feel it as much if at all.
