I have a 1993 f150 4x4 that shifts hard from 1st into 2nd. it gets better from 2nd to 3rd, and from 3rd to od is very smooth. i have a 1089 gm that had some kind if "hose" (maybe a vacume line) missing, and when it was replaced it worked great. is there anything like this on my ford??

Broken 1st to 2nd shift accumulator spring. can be accessed by removing the transmission pan. it is the servo on the left/front corner of the case, secured by one snap ring.
