Those arent nick names. they are model names. so you can differentiate between cars. if you said to me you owned a honda. i would ask which one. if you said you drove a civic, i would know it was a honda. if i told you i drove a toyota truck you would ask which one but if i said i drove a tacoma you would know what i drove exactly.i dont think there are meanings to car names anymore, just what ever they thought sounded good.
