Is dodge and cox (dodgx) mutual fund considered a safe investment?
I have a portion of my 401 in this fund on the advice of several friends who follow this fund. so far it has been nice. any other thoughts on this?.

This fund has a excellent long term record. only one down year in the last 10. you received nice advice from your friends. is it safe? as safe as any equity based mutual fund can be, perhaps a little more since it invests in overseas companies also. but!! equity funds are subject to the volitility of the stock markets. you need to realize that. over the long term it should do well--20 years.
