The early 12 valves took 12 qts, the later ones took 11 qts, the 24 valves took 11 qts, the common rails take 12qts, the 6.7 takes 12 qts. all older engines can use regular diesel oil, any 07 and later diesel in the u.s. has to have ultra low ash diesel oil or the catalytic convertor and particulate filter will be plugged, and on the 6.7 it will cost about $6,000.
