Almost eextremely time i drive, after 5-10 min the temperature gauge in my 1993 dodge stealth base rises up about 80% of the way and then about 10 seconds later, it falls back down to the middle and is normal for a couple of minutes and sometimes it does it again later but not as bad as the first time. any idea why this could be?

Besides a sticking thermostat or low coolant level, it could be a fan relay or coolant temp switch not working properly.
