Dodge dakota problem?
1999 dodge dakota sport 3.9l magnum
2wd 92,000 miles automatic
my dodge dakota has been acting weird lately, i drove around due to lack of funds with my tank on e for a few days untill i had the funds to refill, once doing so my truck would only stay jogging while my foot was on the accelerator, once i let off the accelerator it stalled out, i would start it back up and it would stall out, therefore i had to drive home poppin it in to neutral whenever i would come to a stop so that way i wouldnt stall out, once i got home i shut off my truck, started it back up and it was fine, this morning upon getting of of duty my truck battery was completly dead, i jumped it with another vehicle and it had the same symptoms as before stated, note that these instances are about a month apart, i drove the truck around for about 20 minutes and the symptoms went away, any idea what this maybe from? thank you :)
Answer
Fuel system.
fuel filter might need to be replaced and your fuel pump might have ran hot if driven with low fuel in tank.
the fuel pump might be starting to fail you intermittently.
i would get both filter and pump checked.
the pump can be tested for pressure and volume.
as for the other.
might be a low battery, check the water inside of it and or make sure the battery terminal are clean.
best wishes!
