On a 1963 chrysler newport 361 motor and tranny w/push button shifting is the solenoid on or in the tranny?
Do you know if you could put just a rod shifter in the floor dirctly to the tranny or not

U should be able to put a shifter on the floor and use a cable to operate trans. factory used a cable from the dash at buttons down to the trans.
