Answer
Something is obviously wrong with the transmission. make sure the mechanic replaced the old fluid with atf+4. read my answer to this question.http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=angwmjoyp6ys6r8inwdfnitty6ix?qid=20070528172043aavcgfg&show=7#profile-info-aa11095517the diagnosis could be incorrect or lacking. have the mechanic (or another mechanic at another shop) test drive it while you explain the problem. the tranny could be bad if the previous owner did not replace the fluid regularly, if at all, or if it had an incorrect fluid level for a while. it could be bad if dexron iii/mercon atf was used for a while. that transmission requires atf+4, which may seem expensive, but is necessary. do not use atf+4-compatible or atf+4-suitable fluid. use the real stuff.
