I am replacing the sterring column and have the old one out. i am having a problem getting the new on. the female end of the column will not slide onto the male end coming in from the engine compartment. how can i do this without damaging anything? thanks, tom

Make sure the index mark is lined up between the two pieces. there is a flat spot on each that will match up.
