My husband has a 90 chrysler imperial. the brakes were messing up and he changed the brake line.
?
It worked for a little while. now the brakes went out again. what else can it be besides the master cylinder?
(can you tell i am
asking for him and have no idea what i am
talking about?? lol)
Answer
The issue is describing and then diagnosing the problem correctly. then repairs can be made.first of all did your husband replace a brake line or the brake lining?start out with inspecting the fluid level in the master cylinder. is it low? then look for a leak at the front calipers or rear wheel cylinders. if it is not, remove a tire and inspect the brake linings. start with the front pads. then do the same in the rear, remove the brake drum and inspect the brake linings. if ething appears to be serviceable, reassemble.step on the brake with the cover removed from the master cylinder. is the brake pedal hard or does it go all the way to the floor or feel squishy? if it goes to the floor, bleed the brakes by having someone step on the brake pedal while someone opens the bleeder screws, if there is air in the system this process will eliminate it. use this link to learn how.http://www.advanceautoparts.com/english/youcan/asp/ccr/ccr20011001bb.asp
