1999 chevrolet tahoe -putting into gear?
My husband has an automatic 99 chevy tahoe and here lately when he goes to put it into gear the gear shift will be locked up. he usually has to try about 10 times until it will go into drive. does anyone know why this would be happening?

Late model vehicles have a shift interlock device triggered by the brake switch. when the problem occurs make sure the brake lights work, if not replace the switch, if they work ok then hunt down the interlock device and replace that.
