What are
the numbers on the back of bmw cars?
I have heard that they are the sizes of the engines, but after looking on wikipedia, that does not seem right.
ie. 325, 328, 330
Answer
Somebody who tells you it relates to the engine size directly is several years out of date.in the old days a 325 would have a 2.5 liter engine. the 330 would have a 3.0 liter engine.these days it is a general indication of engine size and the series number.the first number is the series, for example the 3 series, 5 series, 7 series and so on. the second two digits show which model within each series it is.for example the 328i is the entry level 3 series. the next model up is the 335i. now back in 2006 the two models in the series were the 325i and the 330i. but bmw decided they needed some more horse power, so they added some, turbo charged the faster model and changed the names to 328i and 335i, to signify the greater power. both cars have a three liter engine.
