Need help replacing headlight on bmw 323i?
I wanted to change out the headlight in my missus
s 1999 bmw 323i. so i read the man
ual and it said to turn the headlight holder to the left, pull it out, replace the bulb, put it back in. made it sound really simple.
so i bought the $17 replacement bulb and went to try and remove the old one... i see how the thing is supposed to turn, but it wouldnt budge. i even tried to go the opposite way and it still wouldnt budge (in case i was turning it the wrong way)...
my question is...has somebody ever done this. is there a trick to it?? does bmw use a tool to do it?? any help would be appreciated...
also, is it necessary to disconnect the battery to do this job?
Answer
I just changed a light on my 325. you really do just need to turn the light socket counter-clockwise. mine was kind of tough at first , but it eventually went. try pushing in as you turn it. just go slow and dont break it. once you get the socket out you just unplug the old bulb and plug in the new one. you should be fine to leave the battery hooked up just make sure the lights are off.
