BMW

I have a 2001 bmw 3 series. both left and right turn signals have started intermittenly blinking fast for he first 2 - 6 blinks and then resumes the normal tempo. the fast blinks are similar to when a bulb is out but then corrects itself within a few seconds. the indicators that a bulb is out do not come on and the bulbs all seem okay. it will often do this several times a day but not etime the blinker is used. anyone know what could cause this?

Sounds possibly like the flasher going out. typically a part that costs less than $10 and found in the fuse box/panel.
