Should i get a 3 series bmw or japanese car like honda or nissan??

get a car that will last me through college. im
looking into getting like a 2000 328 or 325 bmw coupe. my dad said for the same price i could get a newer, like a 2003 honda accord or nissan maxima which he says will do me better in the long run. my dad said that it will also cost more to get a bmw fixed if it breaks down because parts cost more. are bmw parts that much more expensive than japanese cars??? what car do you guys think i should get???
