What are the symptoms of a bad water pump on a vehicle?
I drive a 1991 audi 90, the water sloshes around in the reservoir and the hoses seem to have tight pressure on them as if the thermostat is plugged. the car is currently over heating.

Leaks and sometimes squealing. when the engine gets warm (hot) do you ever hear the fan(s) come on. the water pump is only part of the system. with out the fan, you loose the ability to pass air through the radiator at slow speeds or at a stop.
you can test this a couple of ways. 1 let the car run for a while and
wait for the temp to get to hot and see if the fans work.
2 start the car and turn on the ac. part of the ac control actually bypasses the cooling fan controls and
runs the fans constantly.
