Car Insurance

I already called the tow company to get away the car. after that, what else that should be done? first i know is called the insurance company to remove the policy of that car, but what next? the ageny of the tow car company said i have to call the tax collector, tell them about this car is no longer is mine. but still what thing that i have to complete this task ??? do i have to return the tag to the tax collector?? help. give me the details instruction~ thanks. it is an old car. so i really want to get away of it. then i think my parents want to buy a new car.
