Have chevy astro all wheel drive put on new starter but all i get is a click from relay and compresser

You need to make sure you have
at least 12.4 volts at the large red wire at starter(at all times)the small purple wire should have at least 9.5 volts when key is in the start position.this will determine if starter is good or you have
another problem.
