Car Speakers

Could somebody help me comprehend car audio amplifiers?

I have a 1996 ford explorer. i put in a sony xplod headunit. i replaced all the door speakers with some pioneer 5x7 speakers, installed two kicker flush mount 1" tweeters in the front, and have two kicker cvr 12" subs in the back. i have one powerzone crunch 1500x1 amplifier powering my subwoofers, and a 1.5 farad capacitor.anywho, i am generally happy with the sound of my car stereo. i would, however, like for it to be louder. not the bass, i am happy with that, i wanted ething else besides the bass louder, like midranges, fullranges, tweeters, whatever. so my question is should i buy an amplifier to power the door speakers that are already in there for more powerful sound, and if so what kind? or should i add more speakers or something?thanks for the help, i think i am going to get a 600watt 4 channel amp for the door speakers. now that would leave the tweeters running off the headunit, right? will it still sound good with the tweeters running off the headunit and the door speakers off an amp? thanks.
Answer
You definitely need an amplifier. in most cases a 10-1 ratio (speaker to speaker) is needed to balance the sound. in your case since you are using a 1500 watt amplifier, i would suggest 150 watts per speaker up front. (the pioneers should handle that. check the power rating to be sure.)not only will this bring out more mids and highs at higher volumes, the sound will be cleaner at lower volumes.
