Car Speakers

bought a used 1995 pioneer super tuner iii car stereo from a pawn shop, they said it worked when they hooked it up, but i hooked all 3 power wires in and it only blinks the station its set on, i have not hooked up any speakers yet. but basically the display only blinks but not long to change the station, but i can change the am/ fm/ fm1/fm2 , but no constant power, cannot find any shorts in the wires, but the blinking is a current pattern not like that of a short, what can i do ?????

If you want to see if the radio works. i would suggest trying to hook it up to the battery. twisting the red and yellow wires together and use a power wire connected to the + on the battery. then do the same for the ground. if the radio has no problems then you have a short in the factory wiring. i would then suggest running new power wire ground and switched power for the radio. i hope this has helped.
