Car Stereo

I have a kicker s12l7 which i still need to buy the box for. if you are familiar with these types of subs would you recommend the size of an amp needed to get it workly good ly. i have a bass knobb next to my seat but its not connect, can i connect that to any amp or does it have to have the correct input. write any suggestions.
