Do i have a dead car battery?
I turn the key, and nothing. no engine starting, no lights lighting on the dashboard/gauges.

Reasonable assumption. if you have no electrical power at all, it is either a dead battery, a broken or corroded battery cable or a blown main fusible link. i would check them pretty much in that order.
