Car Battery

Car battery replacement?

I believe i haev a bad battery, not a bad alternator (hopefully). anyways, i would like to take my battery out and test it, however, i cant even tell where the battery is. the positive and negitive connections seem to be lead to the top of the engine for access, but it seems like the battery is under it all. the fuse box and the air filter seem to be on top of it. is anyone famliar with this setup? how can i get my battery out? thanks it is a 1999 crystal sebring jxi convertable. the car wont start without a jump either.
Answer
You will have to take the driver side front wheel off, then look and u will see some plastic wing nuts should be about 3 of them turn them about a half turn to the left and the front of the inner fender will come out. the battery will be in plain sight then. you will need a ratchet 13mm socket and extension take the nut loose that holds the battery down. remove the cables and take the battery to get it checked or a new one. be sure to get the terminals on the same side(there is a difference) and the same size it wont take a bigger battery than is in it already. your fender well wont go back in if the battery is any bigger. hope i was some help.
