Answer
Actually the cool thing about a lease is you do have the option to trade it, buy it, sell it, or turn it back in. a lease allows you to pay for the part of the car that you use. like a rental car, you only pay for the time you have it (unless you go over on miles, which you then have to pay for). you do have the right to trade it in, but you will be responsible for the residual amount, and the balance of the payments remaining. that may be the difficult part, and will require an appraisal of the vehicle and the payoff to figure. when you request a payoff, do mention that you will be trading it in, otherwise you will be qouted a payoff with sales tax, which you pay monthly on a lease, as apposed to the full amount of tax you would have paid upon the purchase. if selling it outright rather than trading, you will pay tax on the whole thing when you pay it off(lexus financial services, or the leasing company you used will figure this for you).blokey people dont understand leasing, and therefore much misinformation abounds. people purchase because they wanna "own" the car, but most trade long before ever paying it off... effectively leasing but without any of the benefits of a lease(guaranteed future value, sales tax only on the payment, more options, burying negative equity and then walking away in 3-4 years, always under warranty, and others)the nice thing is, even if you cant do it now, in 4 years you have more options than a purchase, and you can get the 2011 bmw you want! had you purchased, you would have at least a couple more years before being able to make such a move. unless you pay cash, all you own when you purchase is the right to pay the bank that holds the title for 5-6 years!below are the results for the 07 is350 sales at auction:date auction type price miles cond color02/06/07 faao regular $34,500 4,092 avg red 01/16/07 faao regular $34,000 1,406 avg black12/14/06 blokeheim regular $35,200 1,823 avg silver12/12/06 faao regular $36,100 3,946 above black11/02/06 blokeheim regular $36,400 1,816 above silver
