How can i realistically improve the gas mileage on my volvo v70 (2002)? engine is tuned, tires are aired up.?
Car operates perfectly, 72000 miles. 2002 model v70 standard engine. engine has been tuned. used to get up to 27 mpg highway and 24 city. now more like 25 highway, 23 city.
any sort of advanced tuning possible?

Clean the sensor wire in the amm unit. you can find a specific cleaning product for it in an auto parts store. the amm (air mass meter) detects the amount of air entering the engine and reports it to the engine management computer. the wire element in the amm is heated, and the effect of the temperature of incoming air on the temperature of the wire is detected by the amm and sent to the computer to calculate the air density. the wire is supposed to go through periodic cleaning cycles, where it heats up after you shut off the car. however, you can still build up gunk on it that affects the reading, and the efficiency of your car.have the throttle body cleaned as well. did your tuneup include new air and fuel filters?
