1999 volvo s80 "transmission service needed"?

Hey there...you answered a question for me last week about "random computer warnings" and now, this same car is showing "transmission service needed" among all the other "abs service needed", "brake failure stop safely asap", (by the way, the brakes were done recently by a qualified ase certified guy )messages. what could this be? it would seem like this, being so random and all, and inconsistent that it would be some sort of short or something than there being a real problem somewhere. what do you think?
Answer
Brakes sound like your tech may not have hooked the abs sensor back up correctly. if you had the brake job done recently i would take it back and have them look at it. you could also just reset the code and see if it comes back. as for the transmission, first guess would be its due for a new filter. dealer usually charges ~150 for a filter change. if you are remotely handy you can do it yourself with the steps provided here: http://volvospeed.com/repair/s80_transmission.html
