Volvo

I think the 2001 volvo s40 has disc brakes, and without looking at it a mechanic guessed it would cost 500 bucks to replace the pads on all 4 wheels. is this about right, or what? also, is this a one hour job, or a leave the car for a day job?

At the dealer i work for brake pads are $150 per axle installed. so you would be looking at $300 plus tax. $500 seems high. a nice mechanic that knows volvos should be able to do the jobs in an hour to an hour and a half.
