02 volkswagen jetta transmission questions?
I have a 2002 volkswagen jetta gls w/35,000 miles. my transmission jerks a little hard when i slow my car down. is that normal? and even sometimes when i go from reverse to drive, the transmission takes a while to get to its other gear. is there anything wrong? the car is still under pre-certified warranty.
Answer
Sounds like you may have low trans fluid, there is
also a software update for that year jetta for the same issue but you would have to go to the dealer for this. it may not apply to your vech they will have to cross ref. with your vin., but if you go that route i would schedule a road test with the service mgr and have them duplicate the problem with you present.,plus road tests are typically free and they can give you a idea if you have
a problem or not. the trans fluid is considered lifetime as per vw. i recommend replacing it a 60k, also the they will need the vech cold to replace the fluid or check it. they will have to hook up the scan tool and run the car until the fluid reaches the proper temp (32c-38c)then and only then can the trans fluid be checked or filled. if they find the fluid low i would ask if they found any leaks and what condition it was in. make sure its noted on any paperwork. ** did you
get your oil change somewhere? cause if you did they might of checked your trans fluid at the wrong temp and drained out about a quart or two, due to lack of knowledge. i see this all the time from jiffy lube. well nice
luck and hope this helps if you have
any questions feel free to ask.
