I am thinking of buying a car in the range of 5k-10k canadian dollars. i am mainly looking for good mpg with diesel fuel because it is more efficient. i am looking at around 2000-2001 made. i heard golfs weigh less and thus i could be able to save more on fuel. i would also like a car that can get good mileage longevity ( 350 000 km +). what do you car experts suggest i get? any advice is greatly appreciated.

Either one they both get great mpg here`s two links on them. i would lean toward the golf. it sounds like you already know that diesels are better engines, i dont need to go on to tell you all about their pros and cons (there are no cons)
