If you are new to motorrunning, go with the katana. it has power for a beginner and has a more comfortable riding position where you are sitting more upright. a katana is considered by some to be more of a sport-cruiser type ride. the yamaha is more of a performance oriented race bike, with power to match. you assume more of a race crouch riding position while riding. if you have riding experience, there is no question go with the fzr. it is a top notch bike.
