What year?? i think model from 1986 to 1990. they do have tapping noise. that is cam chain tension, i was working for motorcycle shop before. it make noisey. that normal for that years. newer model is better now.other is possible one is exhaust leak, it sound like tapping noise, so let start your bike and listen to exhaust area if you can hear any leaking.
