Saab 9-3 s rpms dying after accelerating?

I bought a 1999 saab 9-3 s and as soon as i drove it off the lot (as-is) the rpms started sputtering and jumping from 1.5-2.5 rpms, causing the car to lurch forward.it then dropped to 0 rpms and back up to 3-4 rpms then back down and slowly came to a halt.any help? we are trying to fix it, but are unsure if this is a known problem or..?thanks in advance
Answer
Wow the main problem is your motor [i think]but it could be your headers or your engine block, or your transmission.narrowing it down i get your tranny and your engine block.but if it leerches forward and your rpm dies.if its a blokeual tranny then dont pop the clutch and kill it. jk lolbut it seems that its your transmission. i dont know much about newer vehicles. well besides the ecu crap. but as far as a front wheel drive tranny goes i cant help you much there.order a new tranny and have it put in. or have it inspected to see what gears are fucked.if its an auto: new trannyif its an bloke: possibley a new clutch or some gears.
