What is the purpose of the snowflake button on saab near shift rod?

I am considering the purchase of a 1996 saab 900 s convertible. it is equipped with a "winter package". the current owner described and sent me a picture of a "snowflake" button right next to the shifting rod. he claims that it is used for winter driving and provides better traction. i have done online research and can find no information about the function of this button. does anyone own one of these cars or know if what this owner is telling me is true?
Answer
It is an option that adjusts the electronic stability system in order to have better traction at slipery surfaces. it is used in bloke y cars.
