1985 1/2 porsche 944 clicking noise coming form the back driver side tire?
I had this car for a while now, but a few days ago it start to have this clicking noise coming form the rear driver side wheel and i want to know is there any experience porsche owners or mechics can tell me whats wrong with it and what can i do to get rid off it, maybe a rear control arm overhaul or a cv joint replacement also how would i get the alumium control arm off.
Answer
Could be a few things... and i also seem to recall that 944s of that age had potential issues with the control arms themselves? if you check some of the 944 sites around it is well documented.other likely causes would be:* loose lug nuts* cv joints* wheel bearings* tires (if the tread is starting to seperate, it can cause such a noise)first step in troubleshooting would be to determine if the noise coincides with the wheels rotation, or simply movement. then check the obvious issues of tire wear and make sure the lug nuts are correctly torqued.
