My friend with a honda prelude v-tec manual thinks he can beat my 04 pontiac grand am gt.whats goin to happen?
My pontiac registers 150, it has a 3.4 v6 ram aired. my freinds prelude has a cold air intake, headers, and a full exhaust..we are racing on an open highway no traffic a long straitaway.. no curves.
Answer
It would be close in a straight line, but all things being equal, the honda would leave the pontiac when the curves came in. the vtec honda has a lot of horsepower, but has to use a lot - 7000 plus - of rpm to get it. the pontiac is about equal in horsepower, but has more low end torque. the pontiac probably weighs a little more, which would blunt the torque advantage. the high end power of the honda should give a bit more top speed. in the curves, the hondas suspension is far superior. assuming both have stock or equally modified suspension.
