Hi, im currently having a weird electrical problem with my x reg 2000 peugeot 306 lx, when im driving the temperature guage will rise quick, if i switch the headlights on then the guage goes up further, switching the main beams or front fog lights on makes the guage go loopy and speed all the way over to the bottom right hand corner. ive had a new battery and alternator fitted, any idea what could still be causing this? another things that is weird is that e now and again the stereo will lose power and then switch back on.

Check the main earth cable at the point that it attaches to the chassis from the battery..most times a loose connection will cause a conflict in the voltage draw readings associated with the cars electrical system , to show as a poor battery or alternator. this will give `false` readings to the engine management system and the fusible links , there-by creating "confusion" to the sensors and relays used to govern the correct operation of vehicle.godd huntig and good luck..!
