No power now?
I have a `98 mitsubishi galant 2.4 w/automatic transmission; it has 108270 miles on it. it was idling sporadic but ran at high speeds fine. we k it to four shops with no avail. i replaced the throttle-positioning sensor and decided to try to replace the idle air motor; as i dug into it, i noticed it was unplugged. i plugged it back in and tested; it idled sporadic again but only until the electric fans came on then it smoothed out; when the fans turned off, it idled sporadic again. as i started taking it apart again, i noticed antifreeze coming out of one of the 3/8” hoses so i checked the water level; it was low, but not much. i put it back together added a little water and it idled fine. i found an air fuel mixture screw (i assume) that was cranked down all the way; as i backed it off it really smoothed out great and with ading it and the throttle-positioning sensor it idles smooth. now that it is idling smooth, the problem has moved; now when i put it in gear; it begins to idle a little rough and has no power, if i try to force it – it wants to backfire and fall on its face? update: i have it idling good and the top end is good, it is in-between 0-20mph it has nothing, it backfires a bit and is weak.
