At a stop light, all of a sudden, the car starts to chug and lag, we also needed gas so we stopped and filled up. found out there is oil in the spark plugs, after we got gas and started to drive, it seemed "ok". the check engine light is on . new head gasket, computer malfunction, what? help

Are you sure that there was oil on the spark plugs, and not just walking way to rich, and that was carbon build-up? if there was oil on the spark plug in the combustion chamber, than the car would have smoked really bad, and if the head gasket went bad, than be sure to check your oil, if it is milky, or if your spark plugs are still wet, than yeah it seems like a head gasket. the coolant could be seeping into the combustion chamber due to a head gasket, and making the spark plug appear dark colored, and wet, but that should only be on one or maybe two of the cylenders, be sure to check all of the spark plugs, not just one. if it is just one cylender that is doing this than it is more than likely the head gasket.
