I had to replace the engine. i understand its a common problem. this vehicle was always dealer serviced/ 86k

I had never heard of a "broken crankshaft", but i googled this and came back with responses regarding the front of the crank. i am guessing that the bolt on the front of the crankshaft failed. it is interesting to note the the hits i got on this problem were mainly on japanese cars. i would label this a ford problem since your villager should have a nissan engine in it.
