I have a 99 mountineer 155000 5.0 all was well got to a stop light all of a sudden i felt it kind of idel a little ruff and light changed went to go and the trany started slipping big time any clue as to what happend thanks

Mercury mountaneers have common driveshaft problems. if the driveshaft needs to be replaced it can spin around but have trouble getting power to the rear wheels.i would say this is most likely the case and is much better than needing a new tranny.good luck!
