Mercury

I checked the local mercury dealer and they told me to go to a machine shop. are there any cheaper alternatives than having a sleeve custom made? well the water pump was temporarily clogged so the engine overheated and warped the piston which in turn got stuck to the sleeve. the cylinder head is fine but the piston and sleeve are shot. does someone know any boat salvage yards around georgia or florida?

Go to a marina and see if somone else has left a motor there with more serious problems! you may be able to salvage a sleave out of it... you will wanna keep the piston and rings out of the motor you got the sleve from though because they will have worn to fit each other. otherwise your off to a machine shop to get your new sleave honed!!!
