The older e320s (the w124 chassis) were reliable and relatively worry free. the next version (out in 96 - the w210 chassis) has some reliability and quality problems. more recently, the e class is generally thought to be better in the latest version that came out in 2003 (w211).the link below will have some good info on different issues with the e class and mb in general.
