Mercedes benz and razor phone blue

My father has a 2007 mercedes benz e350 car. he would like to have handsfree bluetooth capability with his verizon wireless razor phone in his car. he is confused about which software will work for him. his razor is a v3 new_c01.09.02 (software). the mercedes guy told him that he thought his mercedes would only jive with a razor 01.05.0a which i guess is a downgrade. does anybody know the answer to this, how to approach it or how to figure it out? once we know the right software, how do we make it work with his mercedes? thanks so much.
