New jeep diesel engine compatible with older jeep models?
I am currently driving a 2001 cherokee with high mileage. i was wondering if anyone new the compatibility of my truck with the new diesel engine jeep is putting in its new vehicles.

Physically the engine will fit. but the cost of getting all the necessary adaptors and the wiring adaptations would make the swap fairly prohibitive. it would be cheaper to swap in not only the motor but the tranny and t-case as one unit. this would make the wiring a little easier and require less fabrication for mounting. the differentials might not line up though. further study is required.
