Jeep

I was looking at a 2000 grand cherokee. i crawled underneath to check for leaks. the oil pan was dry but it was alittle wet with oil under the transmission bell housing ( not leaking, wet). could this be a warning that something is beginning to go? it has 74k miles on it.

Was the fluid red or brownish black? at any rate yes there could be something wrong, could be a leaking rear main seal on the engine if the fluid is brownish black, or a leaking front pump in the trans if the fluid is red.
