Why would my 1993 infiniti j30 make a loud whining sound ( on startup)?
The noise is loudest at startup as the outdoor ambient temperature gets lower. the timing belt was recently replaced.

Could be a number of things. bad bearings in you alternator, loose belt etc. would need to know more
